My Motto: Focus on the Moment, Not the Mess!
Bringing your newborn in for their first photoshoot is one of those magical parenting moments you’ll treasure forever. Tiny fingers, sleepy yawns, and those squishy cheeks — captured forever! But let’s be honest: for many parents, the thought of the session brings on a wave of unnecessary stress.
Good news: you don’t have to stress. In fact, there are at least five things you can confidently cross off your worry list. So take a deep breath, mama (or papa) — let’s make your baby’s first photoshoot as calm and joyful as it should be.
When it comes to photographing your bundle of joy, it should be stress-free. Heck, it’s suppose to be the most important time of your life. Capturing those tiny toes and fingers, back rolls, and squishy cheeks are those features that don’t last and are forever memories of the first few days. But if the thought of the photo shoot has you spiraling into a frantic frenzy, hold up. This is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not another thing to add to you to-do list where you are asking yourself, “I just had a baby, what I am doing.”
There is no need to go out and buy several frilly outfits or blankets. I have a variety of outfits for newborn boys and girls. Between my blanket and wrap assortment, I have you covered. I also have tons of different props that can be used during the session, if we choose to. Only if you have a favorite outfit or blanket, or even a sentimental item, should you feel the need to bring. Relax, my studio is a treasure trove of all the cute props you could ever need. More than we can ever use during a session. I also listen to baby so the more natural poses are always my go-to.
Again, not to worry. If baby is fussy, awake and not feeling the sleepy vibes, it’s not a problem. I’m not known as the ‘baby whisperer’ for nothing. Between white noise, a soothing pad, and a baby weighted blanket, I have several tricks up my sleeve to use. Don’t forget that eyes wide open on baby are also adorable.
I get it. Parents tend to worry about whether he other siblings will cooperate. I was one of those parents as well so I completely understand! It’s always a wildcard with toddlers but our studio has little ones all the time so I’m prepared. We go with the flow, take breaks, snaps photos all along the way, and if need be, I have no problem bringing out the prize basket or brining out the treats.
Don’t. You have a new baby and YOU are amazing. I get it though and maybe you don’t feel glamour shot ready, and that’s okay. No need to sweat it as angles can be our friend and I’ll work with you to get beautiful images. Check out my blog on what to wear for some helpful tips What to Wear For Your Family Photo Session?
No need to declutter or clean your home for photos. My studio is client ready. You get to sit on the couch, scroll Facebook and instagram, and drink coffee…or maybe take a much needed cat nap.
Let’s make memories you’ll cherish forever.
