FAQs

SESSION DETAILS & FAQs:

I like to keep things simple, and not use too many props to take away from your baby and family.

NEWBORN sessions tend to run longer if the baby is not fed or unsettled. I will certainly use my baby whisperer skills but a well-fed, sleepy baby is the golden ticket. Many shots are done with the baby only in a diaper.  I highly encourage parents to bring an extra shirt just in case the baby pees or poops on the shirt. Parents and siblings should not wear patterns or shirts with logos. Plain colors, like white,  black or grey tend to be good colors. If you have a sentimental item, feel free to bring it to the session. This will just make the photos extra special!

MATERNITY sessions are best taken between weeks 28 and 37. To prepare, make sure that you are not wearing anything that will leave a mark on your skin (this is if you want draping photos).  This would include not wearing panties or a bra.  The goal is to have skin as smooth as possible.  If you want a photoshoot with different clothing, jeans with a tight-fitting tank top always looks great, as do long maxi dresses.  Avoid wearing big and baggy maternity clothes because they will not be flattering.

FAMILY sessions should not be completely coordinated in the same color but stay away from anything with logos or patterns. Choose more simple clothing and color coordinated is always a good tip. Bring snacks for the kiddos but I also do not shy away from bribing.

When should I book a newborn session?

It’s never too early to book a newborn session.  Once your baby is born, you will be consumed in their care and in awe of their existence. Booking a newborn session early ensures you don’t miss your chance for capturing those precious moments.

When is the best time to photograph my newborn baby?

The opportune time for a newborn photoshoot is between day 5 to 14 days old.  Newborns during these early days are easier to position and things like colic and baby acne are less of an issue.

What type of accessories are available for newborn sessions?

I have oodles of hair pieces, wraps, blankets, outfits, etc.

Do you do “In Home’ sessions?

I am happy to do in-home shoot or a photo session in my in-home studio.

Do you have a selection of maternity wear?

No.  For studio sessions, please bring your outfits for the session.  I discourage bold print and recommend solid colors.

Can I receive my images unedited/raw?

No. The editing I do is part of my artistic style and therefore I do not offer unedited files, as is the case with all respected professional photographers.

How many images will I receive?

The amount of images you receive will depend on the photography collection you select. Additional digital images and products may be purchased ‘a la carte.’

When and how do we pay for the booking fee and remaining balance?

A sitting fee is due at time of booking the photography session and paid via credit card using square. The remaining balance is due no later than the day of the photography session.

What to expect after my photo session?

Your private online gallery with the hand edited images will be delivered via email within a three week timeframe.  You will be provided a secure pin to download the digital files. Your gallery will only be available for 30 days from the time of delivery.  If at a later date you decide you want additional images, I hold the digital images for 6 months after the photo session , so it is possible for you to request additional  digital images for a fee of $10/each.
