That’s my name. My love for photography began early on in my life. You could always find me with either a camera around my neck or in my hand and that has never changed. Capturing some of the most important moments of someone’s life is an incredible feeling. Whether it is a baby’s first few days on earth, an expectant mother’s glow, or a growing family, I love it all. Every opportunity I had to photograph a baby bump or newborn, I jumped on it.
It wasn’t until my family moved to California that I decided to take the leap and turn my love for portrait photography into a business, and that is where my journey began. My calling was to move from being an outdoor photographer to having my own studio, where I had control of the lighting and did not have to worry about what the weather was going to be or have to photoshop and remove distractions that I’d encounter in the outdoor environment. I invested in a photography certification specifically for newborn and maternity. The course was taught be a well-known Seattle, Washington professional photographer/educator, Sandra Coan http://www.sandracoaneducation.com The course was designed to master studio lighting, posing, processing, branding, and marketing. It has been an incredible course where I’ve meet some amazing people along the way.
I started to see my studio come alive. From fabric backdrops on a portable stand to a wall-mounted pull system with professional paper. I went from using old equipment to investing in professional lighting. From the large items to the tiniest –headbands and diaper covers–I was totally in my element. Oh, and I can’t forget the props….lots of adorable props to show off every newborn that visits my studio. Whether a baby boy or girl, I’ve got all the things to create beautiful images. All the fabrics I use are soft and delicate for baby’s touch. The posing table I use for my newborn photo shoots is ground-level, safe and secure. You’re little one will settle in cozy! I promise you’ll see how much I love the little ones that I tend to lose track of time.
Just a small glimpse into how I got to where I am today. I am in my happy place and living my dream when I’m in my studio in Redondo Beach. Bringing my artistic vision to life is a true blessing.
